Why We Started

AEPS was formed to save 1 life. We’ve trained thousands of people and pray each day we’ve made a positive difference. It is easy to count the number of lives lost. On the contrary, it is nearly impossible to know the number of lives saved through positive impact. Simple decisions in an emergency affect the overall outcome. Correct decisions are rarely discussed. Poor decisions are broadcast far and wide because they are usually associated with loss of life and property. We set out every day looking to save that one life through something we pass on to you.

At AEPS we believe that life and the world is so much greater than ourselves. If we can impart the knowledge to change one life, we believe that influence will continue to travel well beyond the training we offer to continue its positive impact. At our core, our goal is to make the world a better, safer place.

We have learned from past events where lives were lost, that simple preparation can mean the difference between life and death. Every person, irrespective of their position or status in life, must have the information necessary to survive.

Each school day, our nation’s schools are entrusted to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for approximately 55 million elementary and secondary students in public and nonpublic schools. Families and communities expect schools to keep their children safe from all threats. This expectation of safety extends to include protection from human-caused emergencies such as crimes of violence. In collaboration with local government and community stakeholders, schools can take steps of planning and preparation to mitigate these threats. Every school Emergency Operating Procedure (EOP) should include courses of action that will describe how students and staff can most effectively respond to an Active Shooter situation. Plans are valueless and do nothing more than take up hard drive or file cabinet space if the people affected are not properly trained. Every person must understand what to do in order to minimize the loss of life by not only quick action but also preparation. We teach and train on best practices to thwart violence and prevent people from becoming victims. No single response fits all active shooter or emergency situations. However, quick critical thinking skills will save valuable time and allow you to react decisively.
